It is reported that the supply shortage of semiconductors has not ended, and three semiconductor silicon wafer manufacturers, including Globechip, are planning to raise prices.
In the second half of last year, the price of silicon wafer manufacturing has been raised. The one-year contract signed at that time has gradually entered the stage of "contract renewal negotiation". Among them, Universal Crystal has decided to gradually increase the price, while Hejing and TSEC will raise the price of new contracts by nearly 10%.
Some insiders pointed out that behind this new round of price rise, the main reason was the substantial expansion of foundry/IDM manufacturers such as TSMC, Intel and Samsung.
Among the above three silicon wafer manufacturers, Globegroup is the world‘s third largest silicon wafer supplier, accounting for the highest proportion of about 80% - 90%. The report points out that most of its long-term prices adopt the mode of annual price increase.
TSEC is a joint venture between Sumco, a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturer, and Formosa Plastics. At present, the company‘s 8 inch/12 inch wafer length has reached 80%. It is worth noting that the proportion of 12 inch wafer length this year is significantly higher than that in previous years.
Hysik is the sixth largest silicon wafer supplier in the world. Previously, the proportion of the company‘s growth was about 10%, but now the proportion of the company‘s growth has increased to 30% due to the strong supply and demand from customers.
It is worth mentioning that, according to the industry news, the rise of Hejing in this round of price rise is "the most ferocious". The company said it would not comment, and the price would be adjusted based on market conditions.
In January this year, the price of the company‘s 8-inch wafer products has increased by 10%; From May to June, Q3 contract price negotiation will be started, or the price will be further increased within 10%.
